Lose the Paper Towels

It may seem hard to do in our ‘throw-away’ society, but you really can stop using paper towels in your kitchen. I have greatly cut back on my paper towel use. I never did like to use them much, probably because I’m frugal and hated throwing the towel out after just one use!

Did you know…
…paper towels are made with chlorine, which releases harmful chemicals into the air and onto your food?
…40% of the US landfills are paper trash?
…paper products that have ANY food products, grease or body fluids can not be recycled?
…3000 tons of paper towel waste are created every single day?

I use the Norwex kitchen towel and kitchen cloth set instead. Norwex microfiber holds 8 times its weight and cleans up any kind of dirt or spill in your kitchen. I use the kitchen towel to dry my hands and dishes. The towel dries quickly and can go a long time between laundering.

Both the Norwex kitchen towel and kitchen cloth contain micro silver so they self-purify. Use Norwex Kitchen Set for days in your kitchen with no musty smell. And…they are a Customer Special for April!

The Rubber Brush

Norwex sells a Rubber Brush – which by the way is AWESOME!! There are lots of uses for the Rubber Brush. I’ll list some here, but you may have some of your own. We’d love to hear what they are, so feel free to share in the comments.

Use the Rubber Brush to:

  • Clean the yellow Mop Head when it’s full of dirt.
  • Clean animal fur off your microfiber furniture.
  • Brush the crumbs off the floor of your car.
  • Clean the animal hair out of the animal bed.
  • Brush dust and dirt off the dust mitt or envirowand.
  • Brush your dog or cat.
  • Brush lint and hair off your wool coat.

And it’s soooo easy to keep clean – just run it under water! Here’s a video of me and a helper using The Rubber Brush.

Cleaning Hack – Laundry Detergent

UPPNorwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent (UPP) is awesome! But you probably already know that. And don’t forget it is 100% biodegradable, not tested on animals, free of dyes and fragrances, free of fillers, no phosphates or sulfates. In short – it just cleans without harm.

BUT – there are soooo many more things you can do with UPP than just the laundry!! Here are some of the things I do with UPP at my house:

  • Put 1 tsp. in an 8 oz. spray bottle and fill. Make sure it’s dissolved and use it for:
    • laundry spot pre-treat
    • all-purpose cleaner around the house
    • clean creosote from your fireplace doors
    • spot treat carpet stains
  • Carpet cleaning solution (be sure to check manufacturer’s recommendations)
  • add to hot water and clean your stove fan filters
  • deep clean your Norwex cloths

How to hang the Chenille Hand Towel

Do you have the Chenille Hand Towel? Don’cha love it?!! I know I do! It’s sooooo very soft. Plus convenient to hang and use – and it’s always where you need it! I keep one on the handle of my oven where it’s really convenient to give my hands a quick dry.

Cleaning Hack – Envirowand

Are you familiar with the Norwex Envirowand? Consider it magical – I do! And look – it BENDS!!!

envirowandbend

This green beauty is so very versatile! Use it to dust high places, bend it to clean ceiling fan blades and hanging light fixtures. If you have the mop you can attach it to the end of the mop to reach high spots on your ceilings and walls. Get rid of those pesky cobwebs up high!!

envirowand

When you’re done remove the dust with The Rubber Brush or whack it on the side of your house to clean. The green sleeve comes off to wash. Pop it in the washer with all your other dirty Norwex.

Here’s what else you can clean with the envirowand that you MAY NOT have thought of:

  • your dryer vent from the outside
  • remove the lint trap from your dryer and clean inside the dryer
  • under your stove and refrigerator
  • under your furniture
  • behind your TV
  • cold air returns high on the wall
  • forced-air heat runs
  • dashboard of your mini-van
  • get it wet to clean the roof of your car

Happy Norwexing!
